The Living Room Cinema: Liphook film venue with café selling pizza and cocktails confirms opening date

The official opening date for a new cinema in an East Hampshire village has been revealed. Delayed due to the coronavirus pandemic, The Living Room Cinema in Liphook is set to open this week.

A single auditorium, the cinema will show a range of the latest blockbuster movies as well as off the beaten track films and kids movies. Opening alongside the cinema will be a café, which will be open all day.

Selling cakes, pastries and coffees during the day the café will transform in the evening and will see pizzas and cocktails. Produce for the café and cinema is being mainly sourced from local providers, including the General Wine Company and Dylan’s Ice Cream.

In total the cinema will have just seven rows and will have room for just over 60 people. Seats will largely be made up of single chairs, however there will be eight sofas in the back two rows of the cinema which can accommodate two people each and must be bought as a sofa. All armchairs and sofas have been custom-made and manufactured in Belfast for the cinema.

At the site there will also be a small library area sponsored by The Haslemere Bookshop. The café will also be open to people who are not visiting the cinema.

The venue will be open from Friday morning (April 22) with the first screening, Fantastic Beasts: The Secrets of Dumbledore, taking place at 11.30am. Tickets for that first screening range cost £34 for a whole sofa and £16 for an adult for a seat. There is also a 75p booking fee if you are not a founder of premium member and discounted tickets for students, children and over 60s.

Other films being shown in the opening week including The Batman, Sonic 2 and The Duke. Operation Mincemeat, a movie featuring Hampshire’s Colin Firth, will also be shown.
