Time ‘Woman of the Year’ Amal Clooney shares rare comment on her ‘wonderful’ marriage to George Clooney
Human rights lawyer and activist Amal Clooney is among the 12 women Time magazine is celebrating as its women of the year for 2022. In an interview with one of the many women whose rights she’s fought to protect in recent years, the London-bred barrister opens up about how she’s fighting for justice for women, in particular, who’ve been subjected to human rights abuses, and how the Clooney Foundation she and her husband, George Clooney, serves an extension of that advocacy work. Amal, 44, also shares a few rare comments about her life with the Oscar winner, 60, and their 4-year-old twins, Alexander and Ella. Asked how she’s affected by her celebrity status, high-profile marriage and the sometimes “sexist coverage” of her life that comes with those things, Amal explains that being a wife and mom helps her maintain a certain “balance.” “Marriage has been wonderful,” she says. “I have in my husband a partner who is incredibly inspirational and supportive, and we have a home filled with love and laughter. It is a joy beyond anything I could ever have imagined. I feel so lucky to have found a great love in my life, and to be a mother — this is how I get my balance.” As far as the added spotlight she’s found herself in since marrying George, she says, “I think all I can do is try to turn the spotlight to what is important.” Adding, “If I am at a work function and reporting of it focuses on irrelevant issues, there’s not much I can do about that,” Amal says, “Since I can’t control it, my approach is just not to dwell on it and just get on with my work and my life and hope that attitudes will catch up.And I do actually feel like there is a female solidarity that has built up on these issues where other women will sort of call that out in a way that maybe wouldn’t have happened five or 10 years ago. So attitudes are changing.”

Pamela Anderson to tell her own story in new Netflix doc
In the wake of Hulu’s limited series, “Pam & Tommy,” Pamela Anderson is working with Netflix to tell her own story. “My life. A thousand imperfections. A million misperceptions,” she said in a handwritten note announcing the forthcoming documentary on Instagram on March 2. “Wicked, wild and lost. Nothing to live up to. I can only surprise you. Not a victim, but a survivor. And alive to tell the real story,” the note read. According to Entertainment Weekly, the upcoming doc will focus on Pam’s “professional path and her personal journey.” It will be produced in part by Pam and Tommy Lee’s son, Brandon Thomas Lee, and directed by Ryan White. Pamela was reportedly asked to consult on “Pam & Tommy,” which told the story of the former couple’s leaked sex tape, but declined and has not approved the series. She also has no plans to watch it, according to Entertainment Weekly. Entertainment Tonight, meanwhile, quoted a source who said the part of her life covered in the show remains “painful” for the actress. “I wish it had been different,” said Lily James, who plays Pamela in the series, in a recent interview with Porter. “My sole intention was to take care of the story and to play Pamela authentically.”
Marilyn Manson sues Evan Rachel Wood over abuse allegations
Marlilyn Manson has filed suit against Evan Rachel Wood on grounds her claims of abuse were defamatory. The singer, whose legal name is Brian Warner, claims Evan is “secretly recruited, coordinated, and pressured prospective accusers” after publicly accusing him of raping her and abusing her physically and emotionally, according to NBC News. He also accuses her of conspiracy and fraud and says she hacked his computers and social media accounts. The lawsuit comes just weeks before the March 15 premiere of HBO’s “Phoenix Rising,” a new documentary in which the actress discusses her claims in more detail. Evan first accused Brian of assaulting her on Instagram last year, saying he began “grooming me when I was a teenager” and “horrifically abused me for years.” She was soon joined by other women with similar claims. Brian denied the accusations in his own post on Instagram, saying the “recent claims about me are horrible distortions of reality.” He added, “My intimate relationships have always been entirely consensual with like-minded partners. Regardless of how — and — others are now choosing to misrepresent the past, that is the truth.” He’s asking for a jury trial in the suit, which also names Ashley “Illma” Gore as a defendant.
Madonna biopic will reportedly require actresses auditioning to endure ‘intense’ ‘boot camp’
Stars including Florence Pugh, Bebe Rexha, Julia Garner and Alexa Demie are up for the lead in Madonna’s forthcoming biopic and will need to get through what’s being dubbed a “Madonna boot camp” to land the part, according to The Hollywood Reporter. Sources tell the outlet the boot camp consists of “intense choreography training sessions” that could be as long as 11 hours a day. The sessions will reportedly involve Madonna and her choreographer; Madge will also participate in readings and singing auditions for those who get called back following the first round of the process. “You have to be able to do everything,” one source said. Madonna, 63, has talked about the project a handful of times in the past few years, telling Jimmy Fallon in 2021 on “The Tonight Show” she wanted to make the movie because other films that have been made about her are “always mean, per Page Six. After announcing Diablo Cody would write the screenplay in 2020, Madonna reportedly began working with Erin Cressida Wilson instead. “It is my struggle as an artist … trying to survive in a man’s world as a woman,” Madonna said on Instagram Live two years ago. “And really just the journey, which has been happy, sad, mad, crazy, good, bad and ugly.”

Queen Elizabeth makes a private donation to Ukraine relief
Queen Elizabeth II has made a sizeable private donation to support relief efforts in Ukraine amid new warnings from the United Nations that 10 million people could be displaced as a result of the war waged by Russia. A Buckingham Palace source reportedly confirmed the donation news to Entertainment Tonight this week, explaining that the move is “For the royal family as they typically stay out of politics and don’t provide monetary support.” The queen’s gesture, which was reportedly given to the Disasters Emergency Committee Ukraine Humanitarian appeal, follows statements of support for Ukraine from Prince William and Duchess Kate, Prince Charles and Camilla Parker-Bowles, and Prince Harry and Duchess Meghan, who slammed Russia’s invasion as a “breach of international and humanitarian law.” Angelina Jolie, meanwhile, used Instagram on March 3 to share a plea for “equal treatment and rights” for refugees at a time when “more than 82 million people” had already been “forced from their homes by conflict and violence,” even before an estimated 1 million Ukrainians fled their country.
