Joslyn Art Museum celebrates weekend with events and extended hours before temporarily closing

In 2024, the Joslyn will be an all new museum, adding a new 42,000 square foot pavilion offering up space for more art and more visitors. “We’ll have a brand new dramatic entrance that’s more welcoming, that’s more accessible for the public. At the same time, renovations to the gardens kind of bring the outdoors in, and a sense of looking outside year round,” Executive Director of the Joslyn Art Museum, Jack Becker said. Becker said over the last decade, the community connections have also grown, making the time for expansion more important than ever. “Growth in attendance and growth in school programming and educational classes and family programming, as well as a growing collection,” Becker said.While making an impact within the city. “It will help contribute to the quality of life, help build a better Omaha and be a cornerstone of the arts for this community and beyond,” Becker said. He said while the doors are locked, they plan on bringing the museum to you. “You’ll see us at the Riverfront at family festivals, you’ll see us at public libraries, you’ll see us online, we’re gonna find great ways to connect through the community,” Becker said.
